Writing Tanka

A Tanka about Sin

now to pry open my heart

sin is warm and soft

Tanka is supposed to be personal. So is haiku, even though I think a lot of people write haiku about things that sound poetic, and not just about what they have personally experienced. A tanka poem is almost supposed to be autobiographical, so I wonder if its okay to write vague tanka?

  1. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free! Breaking the Haiku and Tanka rules in your own way puts your own stamp on them, and makes them personal. Carry on writing freely and from the heart to bless us all, and glorify God.
