A Tanka about Sin
notebook and pen
my bible laid open
now to pry open my heart
sin is warm and soft
I’d like to lie in it a while
Tanka is supposed to be personal. So is haiku, even though I think a lot of people write haiku about things that sound poetic, and not just about what they have personally experienced. A tanka poem is almost supposed to be autobiographical, so I wonder if its okay to write vague tanka?

Interesting poem, I’m not sure Tankas are supposed to have a title. I’m new to this game so I won’t comment more.

That is true, traditionally they would have a one word topic where we put our titles. I like titles, I think they are important. I may change this one to just “Sin.”

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free! Breaking the Haiku and Tanka rules in your own way puts your own stamp on them, and makes them personal. Carry on writing freely and from the heart to bless us all, and glorify God.
