Friday Fictioneers is a group of bloggers that write 100-word stories after being inspired by a photo prompt posted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. This week she even took the photo herself! We are allowed to use the photo in our post and encouraged to leave each other comments. I will not be joining Concrit but I will be reading other bloggers’ stories and trying to leave comments. I always appreciate anyone who takes the time to leave a comment on any of my posts.
Please take a moment to follow the link to Rochelle’s blog and read some of the other stories inspired by this photo, the writers in this community are great!
Unable to See the Sun
She stared out the window wondering if the sun would indeed rise today. There were sayings about how the sun always rose in the morning; people said that to inspire hope. Heather stood there waiting to see if they were correct. Because some days the clouds were so thick and the rain so heavy it seemed as though the sun had been washed out of the sky. Today was one of those days. Heather was having trouble seeing through the window, so she knocked the soap out of the way, and climbed out of it to go find the sun.
Ah.. I think if more of us would dare to go out and seek that sun.. The weight of the horizon can be unbearable some dawns.

Yes, may we always find the strength to seek the sun. Thanks for reading and commenting!

I love the line about the sky being washed out of the sky. I hope she finds the sun. I can’t imagine living without it. Nice piece!

I wanted her to do more than stare out the window, I’m glad you liked my choice.

Ooh, that was nice…
In the midst of depression or despair, when the metaphors aren’t even there to bring comfort, we can still knock soap out if the way and climb through windows.
Wonderful writing.
