FF Story | Chateau

Friday Fictioneers is a group of bloggers that write 100-word stories after being inspired by a photo posted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. We are allowed to use the photo in our post and encouraged to leave each other comments. I always appreciate anyone who takes the time to leave a comment on any of my posts. I write my story before I read any of the other writers‘ creations. I wrote my story in 94 words this week. Do you feel it is a complete story? Leave me a comment!

Soon the sign would read Chateau de Phillips. They stood still for a moment, admiring their new home. They purchased the entire property online after looking at photos their friends sent them. As soon as their townhouse sold in New York, they were on the next flight. They had tried several different boroughs, but New York had never felt like home. The neighbors were incredibly charming here in France. This would be the perfect place to raise a family. They would later learn she had been with child as she walked through the gate.

  1. Beautiful piece. It does leave me with many questions. That last line, “They would later learn she had been with child as she walked through the gate.” almost has a foreboding tone. What happened that made them tie the child’s birth back to walking through the gate?
