FF | The Lock

Friday Fictioneers is a group of bloggers who write 100-word stories after being inspired by a photo posted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. It is not a closed group, you can join in! We are allowed to use the photo in our post and encouraged to leave each other comments. I always appreciate anyone who takes the time to leave me a comment. I write my story before I read any of the other writers’ creations, although I do often read Rochelle’s post before I write mine since it is right under the photo of the week.

The Lock

Mary sat on the dock with a net. It was small but if she could slow the monster down then people would see it.
The old fishermen had stayed quiet when she told her tale at a local shop. She described the creature in detail, its black eyes and blue skin. The women prodded her for more, giggling. Mary realized they were making fun of her.
She looked to the quiet older men for help but they just looked at their shoes. They knew none of the townsfolk believed.
The creature liked to surface on rainy days. Mary would show the others he existed.
