Today’s prompt was to make your title about food and then just write. This is a love story poem believe it or not. Notice that the category this goes in is called “My Love Poems” because mine are unlike most other’s! My husband and I are super picky eaters. We eat almost no vegetables because we don’t like the taste of most of them. But this makes us perfect for each other. What makes you and your spouse perfect for each other?

Day 27 NaHaiWriMo 2018

Today’s prompt was “rainbow jello” so another food prompt. Storms are hard, but when the rain stops and the sun finally breaks through, you get to see the beauty of things again.

Today’s prompt was “homemade soup” which was easy to write for. I have tried to not be so on the nose this year, but today I’m feeling pretty lousy so this was the best that I could do.

Day 23 NaHaiWriMo 2018

Today’s prompt was “raspberry, orange, pumpkin, lime, coffee, chocolate, or cherry chiffon pie” which I just loved! So much variety and people have done beautiful things with it.

I wish Twitter was more alive on the haiku front. The haiku poets used to find each other and encourage each other on Twitter, but they haven’t been this month, or before then either. Then there were big problems posting to Facebook this year during NaHaiWriMo and not everyone could understand how to work around to post and encourage through comments. Hopefully, next year is better, but a big thank you to everyone who took the time to look through the visitor posts and react to my poems and leave me comments!!

Day 21 NaHaiWriMo 2018

Today’s prompt was “appetizers”. I usually do pretty good with food, but I had a hard time writing a haiku for this one. Have you been writing haiku for National Haiku Writing Month?

Day 16 NaHaiWriMo 2018

Today’s prompt was “chickadee”. So I wrote about when I usually see birds, which is when my mom’s bird feeders have feed in them. Haiku is supposed to represent a moment in time when you see nature and human nature collide.

You can follow me on Instagram and Twitter and Facebook. If you like haiku and want to learn more, then go to my What is Haiku? page. Also, stop by the Facebook page where most of us poets meet to get a prompt and share our work.

Day 9 NaHaiWriMo 2018

Today’s prompt was “beating the heat” and I wanted to write about something other than the weather.

Day 4 NaHaiWriMo 2018

I have been writing my poems every day, it’s just been hard to get them posted to my blog. I will be posting 3 poems today, so stay tuned! I had trouble writing for “cream cheese with chives” on the 4th. Here is what i settled on:

Even if you don’t write haiku, or even if it isn’t your favorite type of poetry, please consider sharing your friends’ and favorite bloggers’ work this month. Check out the hashtag #NaHaiWriMo online.

Day 3 NaHaiWriMo 2018

Today’s prompt was “Greek coffee”. Have you written any haiku yet this month?

Even if you don’t write haiku, or even if it isn’t your favorite type of poetry, please consider sharing your favorite writer’s work this month. It is getting harder and harder to share on social media as all of the sites like Facebook now hide your posts (in hopes that you will pay to make them appear). So please subscribe to and follow me and any other blogs that you like. Check the hashtag #NaHaiWriMo on Twitter and elsewhere.

Day 1 Nat’l Haiku Writing Month 2018

I will not be making long posts this month. I often dread NaHaiWriMo as February draws near because of all the work that goes into blogging as a haiku writer. This year I was excited for it. I think I am going to keep my posts simple so I can enjoy the month. I will not write much of an explanation, and I will use the same image for my poem of the day for the whole month. If you’re a new follower or new to the haiku world, search old posts about National Haiku Writing Month by using my search bar, or click the tag at the top of this post. I am also helping my mom get through Chemo treatments so my posts must be short and sweet. Here is today’s poem fresh from the cocoon:

taco tastes just right
my husband smacks his lips
the pride satisfied

The prompt was “biting into a taco”.

The Seasons are Short

the seasons are short

I would encourage you all to use extra cheese, wear your best dress, burn the good candles, and let your kid be messy for a day. Life is too short to save the good stuff for later. Life is too short to be angry or controlling all the time. Take the time to visit that friend or older family member that you haven’t seen in a while, you will thank yourself later.
