America Haiku

America is still
big enough to support
wild horses

There is always hope for America. Just because we have a bad leader here or there, or just because we are having to iron out spots in our culture does not mean that everything is going down the tubes. All countries have growing pains from time to time. We are no different.

I wrote this for a prompt from #FieryVerse on January 6, 2017. If you are on Twitter, follow me to see these the same day that I write them. Don’t forget, while it’s easier to like and share on Twitter, you can like and share my blog posts as well.

Patriot Quote

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.

-Thomas Paine, The Crisis, No. 4, 1777

Seeds of Freedom

seed pod, flower seeds, plant seed

she was handed a book

she read the book and that

is when the seeds of freedom were planted

Watching someone learn and grow while reading a book is a cool thing. Watching someone change their behaviour because of a book is cool too. Today is International Literacy Day; consider giving someone a book as a gift. If they can’t read, offer to help them find a class in their area that will teach them.

A good quote about freedom.

Freedom is not merely the opportunity to do as one pleases; neither is it merely the opportunity to choose between set alternatives. Freedom is, first of all, the chance to formulate the available choices, to argue over them — and then, the opportunity to choose. -C.Wright Mills

I completely and totally agree with this quote.

It’s been 6 Months.

Finding Freedom

I bared my soul to you

I pulled back my collar and showed my skin

You told me you liked what you saw

Now my shirt is off

If you don’t like the view –

Too bad

I have freed myself of these heavy garments

I like the feeling and the look on your face

Now I reach for my skirt –

I cannot be stopped
